I'm a bit late to the party and I understand fully the actual complications for adding a rewind or even a jump back to like set times like jump back 1 min or 5 min even would be great because I want to try to get into war thunder cinematic editing but If i want to get multiple angles of the same thing or I missed what I was wanting to capture it means having to possibly exit the replay and re-enter it multiple times.Īlso since I can't jump to a set time either it makes it difficult. And yes.the biggest improvement they could add is a way to move BACK.if not freely, at least to breakpoints.(which i would guess would be way easier to do). I myself dont go into replays so much due to its "hard to use" nature.BUT i do find them a good source of information if you take the time to navigate in them. Bear in mind the replays ARE NOT simple video.you can change to POV on the map AT ANY TIME. It CAN be done of course.but i guess it is not "worth it". I am under the impression it would require a big overhaul of the replay system AND a major change of the required resources.bandwidth, data transfer size. I get your point.i am not aware of the technical issues.but given time and memory/disk space it would be POSSIBLE, of course. I just missed the action I wanted to see, I have to restart the whole replay.

I can't believe we still can't do it in WT.

You can also rewind by small chapters the game makes when you watch the replay of a match. You can do this in Halo 3, which was released back in 2007 on freaking Xbox 360. I'm sorry but that's not that impressive or new. Not sure if Wot has the same features.in WT replay can be played from ANY TANK perspective and including the possibility of seeing where ANY PLAYER was even looking at, at any given moment. Issue is probably the "delay" and the required resources. It should be POSSIBLE to replay the simulation "offline" to a point 30s before the point where you are, so in fact implementing a 30s rewind.so it is technically possible. This is why it has to start from the first moment and also why it stops working with each update, as the changes in models and rules would make the simulation run differently. Someone's being lazy, don't let anyone try to tell you otherwise.Īs i understand it, the replay is actually a SIMULATION of all events that took place, in the sequence they took place.like replaying a logfile. Backwards and forwards are the same to a computer, just a sequence of data.
Widelands saved replay software#
Many computer games can be modified by user's custom graphics, sounds, maps or new missions and map editors or mission creators are very often a standard part of the game installations.I can confirm as someone who's been writing software since the 80's that there are no technical limitations other than the ones people impose upon themselves. Saved game can be loaded later and the player can continue with playing from his last saved position. Saved game is digitally stored information that contains progress of player in particular computer game. Saved games are a very specific game format. Some utilities, such as Dragon Unpacker, can open and extract the contents of game resource files.
Widelands saved replay archive#
Game archives, or resource files, contain game data (music, sounds, textures, models, maps, levels etc.) in one or more archive containers and often are compressed and sometimes even encrypted. Engines created by game developers for their games usually contain many file formats for their game resource files, including, audio formats, video formats, graphic formats, or formats for saved game positions. The group called game files represents a very large family of various file types, that are used by various computer games for their purposes.
